Access to open calls and grants on Artistivo is free. It's one more reason for Artistivo to be somewhere you return to, not a portfolio you set up once and forget.
Artist Visits: we film and tell artists' stories
Artistivo isn't only a place for artists to publish their work. We also want to tell the stories behind it.
Each month, we select a limited number of artists from the Artistivo community for Artist Visits.
For selected artists, Artistivo creates a short professional video about the artist, their work and their practice, free of charge. Where practical, we visit the artist and film with them in person. When distance makes that impractical, the feature can be created remotely.
We also write and publish an editorial article about the artist and their practice in the Artistivo Journal.
The video is published through Artistivo and shared on our social channels, including @artistivo_. There is no fee for the video, the Journal article or the feature.
Artist Visits isn't a competition, and it isn't only for emerging artists. We select interesting artists and practices across different disciplines and career stages.
Selection is editorial and limited, so creating an Artist Page doesn't guarantee a feature. A complete page, with a good profile photograph, a biography and a strong selection of work, helps our team understand your practice when we consider future artists.
Your Artist Page can become the starting point for an Artistivo film and editorial feature.
Teach art? Connect teaching with your practice.
Many professional artists also teach. We believe someone looking for an art teacher should be able to understand the artist behind the class.
Artistivo is developing its classes offering so artists can connect private lessons, workshops, group classes and courses with their Artist Page.
Someone considering a painting class could first explore the artist's paintings, biography and practice. Someone who already admires an artist's work could discover that they teach.
Teaching becomes part of the artist's professional presence rather than an isolated listing on an unrelated booking site.
Connecting artists, galleries and collectors
Artistivo's longer-term vision goes beyond artist portfolios. We're building a platform where artists, artworks, galleries and collectors connect around the work itself.
Galleries will be able to build their own presence around the artists they represent, the exhibitions they organise and the artworks they present.
Collectors will have a role beyond simply being anonymous buyers. They'll be able to follow artists, save works, build their own presence and, if they choose, share parts of their collections.
Our aim is for the artwork to remain connected to its story.

An artwork could begin on an artist's page, appear in an exhibition, be represented by a gallery and eventually enter a collection, without those relationships disappearing after the sale.
For collectors who want privacy, those connections won't have to be public. Collectors should control what they choose to share.
We're not trying to build another database of art. We want an art community connected around the people who make, exhibit, represent and collect it.
A marketplace built around the artwork
Selling art is also part of where Artistivo is heading. We're developing a marketplace where artists will be able to offer their work for sale through Artistivo.
Independent artists will be able to sell their own work. Galleries will be able to present and sell works by artists they represent, while those artworks remain connected to the artist who created them. And over time, collectors may be able to offer previously acquired works for resale.
Rather than treating each sale as the end of the story, we're exploring ways to preserve meaningful information around an artwork as it moves through the art world.
That includes the concept of Verified Acquisitions. A gallery sale, for example, could be connected to the artwork and confirmed by the collector, even when the transaction itself happened outside Artistivo.
This could create a verified relationship between:
Artist → Artwork → Gallery → Collector
without forcing every real-world gallery transaction through Artistivo. If a collector later decides to resell that work, its relationship to the artist, the gallery and the earlier acquisition can stay with it.
We're developing these features carefully. They're part of Artistivo's direction rather than functionality we want to pretend already exists. The artwork shouldn't disappear from the story when it's sold.

There are already many places to create an online portfolio. Artistivo is about what can exist around your practice.
You can present your work, share exhibitions and events, follow open calls and grants, teach classes and connect across disciplines. As the marketplace develops, you'll also be able to reach galleries and collectors and offer your work for sale.

You can, and in many cases you should. They do different jobs.
Your own website gives you maximum control, but you generally have to bring the audience yourself.
Instagram provides enormous social reach, but it's designed around feeds, engagement and algorithms rather than the long-term presentation of an artistic practice.
Behance and DeviantArt are established creative platforms with particular strengths in visual and digital creative work.
Artistivo is being built around a different idea.
A platform for artists shouldn't assume every artist makes images. A musician's page shouldn't have to behave like a painter's. A writer shouldn't need to turn writing into an image. A filmmaker shouldn't have to reduce a film to a thumbnail.

Is it free to create an Artist Page on Artistivo?
Yes. Creating your core Artist Page and presenting your portfolio on Artistivo is free. Artists can also access and follow open calls and grants for free.
As Artistivo develops, some optional professional and commercial services may be paid. We prefer to be transparent about that rather than promise that every future Artistivo service will always be free.
Is Artistivo only for emerging artists?
No. Artistivo is organised around artistic practice, not career level.
Whether you've exhibited internationally for decades, are represented by a gallery, work independently, are mid-career or are developing your professional practice, you can create an Artist Page. What matters is the work, not the label attached to your career stage.
What kinds of artists can join Artistivo?
Artistivo currently brings together twelve disciplines: painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, animation, film, music, dance, literature, theatre, craft and fashion.

How do I create a good art portfolio online?
Start with the work that best represents your practice. A portfolio is an edit, not an archive.
Write a clear biography, choose an appropriate profile photograph and organise related works into albums or series where useful.
If you have decades of work, you don't need to upload everything. A considered selection can introduce your practice, while your website and other professional links can take visitors deeper into your archive.
Will my Artist Page appear on Google?
Artistivo Artist Pages are public and designed to be discoverable by search engines.
Nobody can guarantee a particular position on Google. Rankings depend on many factors, and new pages can take time to be crawled and indexed.
A complete Artist Page containing your artist name, biography, discipline, location and published work gives search engines and human visitors useful information about who you are and what you do.
Where else can my Artist Page appear?
Artistivo is building a network of specialised art platforms connected to the main community.
Depending on your location, discipline and connection to a particular hub, your Artist Page can also appear on Artistivo-powered platforms such as SpainArtists.com and BritainArtists.com. Hundreds more country, city and specialist domains are planned as the network grows.
You don't need to create separate profiles for them; one Artist Page can appear in all of them.
Are open calls and grants free to access?
Yes. Artists can explore and follow open calls, grants and opportunities on Artistivo for free.
How can I be featured in Artist Visits?
Each month, we select a limited number of artists from the Artistivo community.
For selected artists, we create a short professional video about the artist and their work and write an editorial article about their practice, free of charge. Where practical, we film with the artist in person. When distance makes that impossible, the feature can be created remotely.
The video is published through Artistivo and shared on our social channels, including @artistivo_, while the article appears in the Artistivo Journal. There is no fee for either.

Do I need my own website?
No. Your Artist Page can function as a public online portfolio.
If you already have an established website, however, there's no reason to replace it. Connect it to your Artistivo presence alongside Instagram, YouTube and your other professional channels.
Artistivo is designed to complement your existing professional presence rather than replace it.
How is Artistivo different from Instagram?
Instagram is primarily a social network. Artistivo is an art community built around artists and their practices.
Instagram is hard to beat for social reach, but work there lives inside a constantly moving feed. On Artistivo, the artist and their practice are the centre.
Your biography, disciplines, portfolio, albums, media, location, exhibitions and professional activity can form a structured Artist Page.
Can I sell my work through Artistivo?
Not yet, but this is part of what we're building.
Artistivo is developing a marketplace where independent artists will be able to offer their work for sale, while galleries will be able to present works by artists they represent.
Our longer-term vision also connects artworks with collectors and their acquisition history, with the potential for collector resale in the future.
We want commerce to become part of a connected art ecosystem rather than simply adding a Buy button to a portfolio.
What are Artistivo's plans for galleries?
We're developing gallery identities that can connect galleries with their represented artists, artworks, exhibitions and collectors.
Our longer-term plans also include verified acquisition records, allowing gallery activity to contribute to the history surrounding an artwork even when a transaction takes place outside Artistivo.
What are Artistivo's plans for collectors?
Collectors will eventually have their own place within Artistivo.
Rather than being anonymous buyer accounts, they'll be able to follow artists, save works and, where they choose, build a presence around their interests and collection.

You retain ownership of your work. The precise permissions Artistivo needs to display your content on Artistivo and relevant Artistivo-powered platforms are governed by our Terms of Service.
