Fashion

Fashion in one place. Designers, pattern cutters, stylists and textile artists with lookbooks and contact details, single garments and whole collections alongside woven and dyed cloth, embroidery and knit, and the shows, presentations and sample sales being listed.

Fashion outside the big houses runs on small runs and direct sales. Independent designers work to order or in limited drops rather than to a seasonal wholesale calendar, which lowers the risk and caps the scale. Deadstock and reclaimed cloth have gone from a constraint to a stated method, and buyers increasingly ask where a fabric came from. Pattern cutting and textile work are often done by the same person who sells the finished garment, so a label is frequently one or two people.

Cloth is closer to the craft rooms of this site than to a retail catalogue, and the listing reflects that: a dyed length and a finished collection sit in the same row. Shows are dated and short-lived, so those entries come straight from the designers and the venues holding them.
