Yulia Petrachuk

A native of Tula, Russia, Ms. Petrachuk began musical studies and performing from an early age of 5. By the age of 12, given her well-developed vocal instrument, Mr. Petrachuk was immersed in studies with a professional vocal teacher and coach. Within 3 years of studies, she won a multitude of local and regional vocal competitions. Her studies and achievements over the next several years eventually landed her at the prestigious Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, where she pursued Vocal and Opera studies for the next 5 years. During her years at the Conservatory, Ms. Petrachuk held a busy schedule of opera performances in various theaters and participated regularly in numerous concerts and fully-staged operas with orchestra in a variety of roles, amongst which include Mimi (in Puccini's opera "La Boheme"), Kupava and the Snow Maiden (in opera by Rimsky-Korsakov "Snow Maiden"), Zemphira (in Rakhmaninoff's opera "Aleko"), and Euridice (in Gluck’s opera «Orfeo et Euridice»). In addition, she received a series of artistic honors and recognition at both the national and international level - Winner of the national competition «Tver Romansiada» in Tver, followed by a Finalist Diploma at the international competition of Russian romances "Romansiada" in Moscow. Subsequent appearances in Talinn, Estonia, and a win at the Spring International Festival in Pyongyang, the North Korea, sealed her reputation as an important up-and-coming young artist. In 2006, after having won a grant for further apprenticeships in international theatres, she spent a summer performing and training in Rimini, Italy with such outstanding international artists as Alessandro Calamai and Rolando Panerai. During this time, she achieved a major success with a concert at the main theater of Rimini “Novelle”, for which she received recognition in Italy’s most well-known classical music magazine “L’Opera”. 1 15995_425653727505542_1103790718_n (1) In 2007, Ms. Petrachuk appeared in the role of Mimi of Puccini’s “La Boheme” in Ischia, an island in the southwest Italy, as part of the Ischia Summer Music Festival. Later that same year, Ms. Petrachuk performed the role of Kupava in the opera “Snow Maiden” with the Vilnius Philharmonic Theater in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2008, she entered a professional training program in Bern, Switzerland, and commenced her career in Europe with a multitude of performances and concerts throughout Switzerland and Italy. During 2009-2010, amongst the already well-known operas under her belt, Ms. Petrachuk also performed several roles which are rare gems, such as the title roles of Flaminio in the opera "Il Flaminio” by Pergolesi, with the State Theaters of Biel and Solothurn (Switzerland), and the principal role of Elisa in Mozart's opera « Il Re Pastore» (The Shepherd King), also at the above-mentioned theaters. In 2010, she was invited by The State Theater Bern (Switzerland) for a supporting role in the opera «The Love for Three Oranges», by Prokofiev, during the 2010-2011 season. In January 2012 Yulia was a Finalist for the Placido Domingo Washington Opera Program. In Summer 2012 she performed the role of First Lady in the opera “The Magic Flute” by Mozart and La Cesca in the opera “Gianni Schicchi”by Puccini with the Ash Lawn Opera Summer Festival (in Charlottesville, USA). Also she received a Grant by The Schuyler Foundation for Career Bridge 2012 (New York) and became finalist of Opera Idol Competition 2013 (New York). In May-June 2013 she covered the role of Elvira in the opera “Ernani” by Verdi in Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (New York). In November 2013 and November 2014 Yulia performed the role of Mimi (“La Boheme” by Puccini) with Dicapo Opera Theater NYC. In 2014, she made her debut at the Carnegie Hall with Steven Crawford, pianist and assistant conductor of Metropolitan Opera. In February-April she sang Lauretta’s role (“Gianni Schicchi” by Puccini) and Adina (“L’elisir d’amore” by Donizetti) with Dicapo Opera Theater. In June 2014 Yulia performed Fiordiligi’s role (“Cosi Fan Tutte” by Mozart) with Bethesda Summer Opera Festival. In November 2014 Yulia performed Iolanta (“Iolanta” by Tchaikovsky) and Nedda (“Pagliacci” by Leoncavallo) with Vocal Production NYC at Washington Irving Auditorium in New York City. And also in November 2014 she returns to Dicapo Opera Theater and performs again the role of Mimi. In 2015 Ms. Petrachuk became finalist of Vacal Arts DC Discovery Series Competition in Washington DC and a finalist of New Jersey State Opera Vocal Competition. Also in 2015, she won the Montpelier Art Center’s Classical Recital Series Competition. Late in 2015, she sang with Opera Camerata in Washington DC, in the principal role of Fiordiligi, in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte. In November 2015, Ms. Petrachuk successfully performed the World Premiere of “Yulia” (a song cycle for soprano and strings dedicated to her by composer E. Dubois) at the Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center in New York City, in collaboration with the renowned Italian pianist Carlo Pari. Recently in December 2016, she had a recital at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall with virtuoso pianist Michael Fennelly and performed a world premier of a song cycle “Winter Wood” by Emmanuel Dubois for soprano and harp. Her future engagements include various operatic and concert series performances in Washington DC, Florida, New York, Russia, France, Austria and Italy.
