In my recent work I use figurative sculptures to construct different scenes and narrative stories. This is a way for me to experiment and study the nuances of different phenomena that interests me. My subjects often revolve around themes of conformity, standards and social hierarchies versus liberation and courage.

 

My work consists mainly of installations made of sculptures in raku fired clay. The raku firing process gives the sculptures a surface with cracks and shades which suits the expression that I try to reach. The challenge of the old Japanese raku technique attracts me. To give up control and accept chance and nature as collaborators in the act, makes the process exciting.   

 

My ambition is to create a reflective surface or a room for reflection, in which the viewer's thoughts and memories are activated.
