Phases — Intent

A face can remain composed while something far less certain takes shape beneath it. Three expressions occupy the same space, each carrying a different degree of openness and restraint, as though the distinction between sincerity and intention were impossible to read from the surface alone. Their proximity turns the portraits into variations of a single presence rather than separate identities. Around them, flesh gives way to petals and branching forms, gradually obscuring where the body ends and something more instinctive begins. Light reveals only what is permitted to be seen, while shadow preserves the rest. Between the two lies the real subject: not what is felt, but what is deliberately left unread.
